These boarding schools for boys are a nonprofit, faith-based educational solution for boys struggling with life-controlling problems. Boys receive 24/7 care. There is no cost to apply.

Boys facing life-controlling challenges or struggling with motivation will discover a nurturing, structured environment at our year-round boarding schools. These accredited, faith-based institutions meld education, counseling, and outdoor activities to foster resilience and pave the way for a prosperous future. Through personalized and group counseling, mentorship, and dynamic activities, students cultivate positive character traits, accountability, and self-discipline. Engaging in voluntary community service enhances their sense of self-worth and nurtures a commitment to service, while faith-based teachings enrich their comprehension of divine love and purpose. At Teen Challenge boarding schools, boys achieve academic excellence and develop virtues like respect, hope, kindness, and spiritual depth, equipping them to lead lives marked by integrity and meaningful purpose.

We offer boys a chance to catch up educationally, and to find freedom through a God-given purpose and an eternal hope. We do this through classes, academics, individual study, personal mentoring, and involvement in individually paced studies.

For boys, Teen Challenge is a holistic character-building program – meaning that we are concerned with the body, mind, and spirit of those who come to us for help. We endeavor to help teens become confident, mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive.
“Teen Challenge boarding schools are effective, lower in cost, and highly caring alternatives to the more expensive therapeutic boarding schools.” — Editors of BestTherapeuticBoardingSchools.com

The Teen Challenge residential programs and schools provide a transformative experience for boys, guiding them to regain their educational and behavioral footing while discovering their greater purpose and calling in life. Encircled by a nurturing Christian environment throughout the day, students benefit from the steadfast witness and guidance of our dedicated team, fostering profound life changes.
Our schools deliver a fully accredited educational program, customized to address the unique needs of each student. Upon completing their high school credits, students are awarded an official high school diploma. All credits are transferable, ensuring continuity in education. Our on-site educators monitor progress closely, provide personalized tutoring, and offer additional learning support as necessary. Students who excel academically are acknowledged for their hard work, with opportunities to receive recognition and additional rewards.
When boys start spinning out of control, they usually exhibit signs which parents need to look for. Boys that most benefit from our program come to us after the parents observe the following changes in their boy’s attitude and behavior:

All of our staff are trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), a therapeutic approach tailored to help adolescents in our care who have experienced trauma, facilitating their healing through structured support and understanding. The model operates on three core principles: Connecting, Empowering, and Correcting. Connecting Principles focus on building secure, trusting relationships through attentive listening and responsive interaction, helping adolescents feel safe and valued. Empowering Principles address physical and emotional needs, aiding in the development of self-regulation skills through consistent routines and health-focused practices. Correcting Principles offer guidance on behavior with approaches that teach and correct without shame, supporting adolescents in making positive decisions. Overall, TBRI helps adolescents in care by fostering an environment of security and trust, enhancing their ability to heal and grow within their social and emotional contexts.
We believe that a Christian worldview and a traditional education are needed for teens who have previously had a poor or undisciplined educational experience, leading to a lack of preparation for their own future. While enrolled here, boys are required to work on their courses all weekdays, catching up for lost time and retaking failed or low-grade courses. Our on-campus private school, nationally accredited by COGNIA, is facilitated by our certified teachers.
Boys Reclaim Their Educational JourneyTeens come to us with various academic records, often with a history of failing grades and skipping classes. For many of our students, enrollment here means a second chance at graduating high school with good grades, a possibility nearly destroyed by their former lifestyle. Our individualized curriculum, along with one-on-one instruction from our teaching staff, allows the boys to gain mastery of subjects, improve past failing subjects, and earn missed credits toward a high school diploma.
Today, what is NOT taught is almost as important as what IS taught…
Unlike today’s public schools and schoolbooks, we don’t push a sociopolitical agenda, race theories, gender manipulation, nor altered American history. We simply teach the most important basic skills needed in life, and we help our students find real purpose and meaning.

Teen Challenge offers a residential program that is a boarding school designed just for troubled boys. With 60 years of success, we endeavor to help teens become caring, mentally sound, academically advanced, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive. Teen Challenge is a nonprofit organization diligent in providing cost-effective programs for teenagers. As a result, our services are far less costly than the for-profit therapeutic boarding schools. Parents looking for boarding schools for troubled boys will get help for their troubled teen. Boys-only schools and therapeutic boarding schools for boys can help turn around troubled youth. The difference between an all-boy military school and a trouble teen therapeutic school has to do with discipline and therapeutic methods they use. Religious boarding schools provide spiritual help. Many who are seeking military schools for boys may also want to check out schools for troubled boys, such as therapeutic boarding schools, residential treatment centers for boys, and Christian boarding schools like Teen Challenge.
LICENSING DISCLAIMER: While therapeutic services are provided through licensed staff, our programs do not operate under a clinical license. Our strength lies in something deeper — faith-rooted mentoring, character transformation, and intentional life-building. This approach doesn’t just manage symptoms; it addresses the whole person, guiding teens toward a lasting and purpose-filled future. Families across the country have witnessed powerful, enduring change through this relational and spiritually grounded model.
These therapeutic boarding schools and group homes for boys help troubled teenage boys overcome behavioral issues and rebellion. Like troubled teen boarding schools and teen military schools, these residential programs are often more affordable than traditional therapeutic options. Faith-based boys homes and Christian boarding schools offer structure, discipline, and mentoring to boys who are out of control, defiant, or have been expelled or adopted. Many serve families across the Southeast and Midwest, including Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas. While not military schools, these boys-only programs focus on personal growth, character development, and life transformation. Unlike typical boarding schools, they provide structure, accountability, and often faith-based mentoring. Families seeking military schools for boys may instead find greater success with Christian or therapeutic boarding schools designed specifically for troubled teens.
