Education, Behavioral Recovery, and Character Development
“Teen Challenge boarding schools are effective, lower in cost, and highly caring alternatives to the more expensive therapeutic boarding schools.” — Editors of BestTherapeuticBoardingSchools.com

The Teen Challenge residential programs and schools provide a transformative experience for boys, guiding them to regain their educational and behavioral footing while discovering their greater purpose and calling in life. Encircled by a nurturing Christian environment throughout the day, students benefit from the steadfast witness and guidance of our dedicated team, fostering profound life changes.
Our schools deliver a fully accredited educational program, customized to address the unique needs of each student. Upon completing their high school credits, students are awarded an official high school diploma. All credits are transferable, ensuring continuity in education. Our on-site educators monitor progress closely, provide personalized tutoring, and offer additional learning support as necessary. Students who excel academically are acknowledged for their hard work, with opportunities to receive recognition and additional rewards.
Our Calling is to Help Troubled Boys
When boys start spinning out of control, they usually exhibit signs which parents need to look for. Boys that most benefit from our program come to us after the parents observe the following changes in their boy’s attitude and behavior:

- • Dramatic changes in appearance, attitudes, and desires
- • Hanging out with the wrong crowd
- • School tardiness and/or truancies, loss of good grades
- • Isolating from family and old friends
- • Changes in attitude and personality, lack of care
- • Forsaking previous future goals and positive activities
|
- • Experimentation with harmful substances
- • Sudden fits of anger or rage, disrespect for authority
- • Lies, manipulation, theft
- • Dramatic mood swings and lack of sleep
- • Shocking loss of a moral compass

All of our staff are trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), a therapeutic approach tailored to help adolescents in our care who have experienced trauma, facilitating their healing through structured support and understanding. The model operates on three core principles: Connecting, Empowering, and Correcting. Connecting Principles focus on building secure, trusting relationships through attentive listening and responsive interaction, helping adolescents feel safe and valued. Empowering Principles address physical and emotional needs, aiding in the development of self-regulation skills through consistent routines and health-focused practices. Correcting Principles offer guidance on behavior with approaches that teach and correct without shame, supporting adolescents in making positive decisions. Overall, TBRI helps adolescents in care by fostering an environment of security and trust, enhancing their ability to heal and grow within their social and emotional contexts.
Our Exceptional Education Program
We believe that a Christian worldview and a traditional education are needed for teens who have previously had a poor or undisciplined educational experience, leading to a lack of preparation for their own future. While enrolled here, boys are required to work on their courses all weekdays, catching up for lost time and retaking failed or low-grade courses. Our on-campus private school, nationally accredited by COGNIA, is facilitated by our certified teachers.
Boys Reclaim Their Educational Journey
Teens come to us with various academic records, often with a history of failing grades and skipping classes. For many of our students, enrollment here means a second chance at graduating high school with good grades, a possibility nearly destroyed by their former lifestyle. Our individualized curriculum, along with one-on-one instruction from our teaching staff, allows the boys to gain mastery of subjects, improve past failing subjects, and earn missed credits toward a high school diploma.
Today, what is NOT taught is almost as important as what IS taught…
Unlike today’s public schools and schoolbooks, we don’t push a sociopolitical agenda, race theories, gender manipulation, nor altered American history. We simply teach the most important basic skills needed in life, and we help our students find real purpose and meaning.
